Gear up for adventure with your little one

At Toebeanstravels, we believe parenthood shouldn’t mean parking your passport. In fact, our adventure into family travel began long before Toby arrived, we actually found out we were pregnant in Antarctica, of all places. And true to form, Toby continued travelling right along with us, visiting eight countries before he even made his debut into the world.

Plenty of people told us our travel days were over, that life would shrink the moment we became parents. But we’re here to prove the opposite: with the right mindset and the right travel gear, exploring the world with your baby can be not only possible, but joyful, empowering, and surprisingly stress‑free.

Here, we share our tried‑and‑tested essentials, the items that genuinely make a difference, so you can set off with confidence, curiosity, and your tiniest travel buddy in tow.

Our travel gear lifesavers: portability & peace of mind

After trips with our little one, we've discovered some true game-changers. The Najell Sleep Carrier is top of our list, it's incredibly portable, allowing our baby to sleep comfortably on the plane, and removes the need for a cot in hotels (up to about 6 months). Lightweight and available in lovely colours, it's a dream! Another essential is the Portable Dummy Steriliser by Vital Baby, ensuring we can always keep dummies clean, even after unexpected floor spillages.

Effortless comfort for parents and baby

For hands-free exploration, the Ergo Baby Airloom Baby Carrier is invaluable. It's lightweight, portable, and easily adjustable, making it comfortable for both parents. Baby sleeping bags have been a game-changer for peaceful nights, eliminating worries about blankets covering our baby's head. And for ultimate reassurance, the Owlet Smart Sock provides incredible peace of mind by monitoring vital signs and alerting us to any changes, allowing for a better (though still interrupted!) night's sleep.

Travel with confidence: the impact of smart gear

Choosing the right travel gear isn't just about convenience; it's about transforming your travel experience. It removes stress and decision fatigue, keeps your children comfortable (which keeps everyone happy!), and saves time in those high-pressure moments. Good gear gives parents freedom and flexibility to enjoy their trips fully and builds confidence for future adventures. My top tip? Good travel gear should make you feel capable and ready to take on the world. What that means is individual, but I hope our insights help you find your perfect fit!
