For this trip, we stayed at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. Having previously stayed at Newport Bay, Hotel New York, and the Disneyland Hotel (before its refurbishment), we thought it was time to try this lakeside hotel.
We knew before arriving that Sequoia Lodge is in need of refurbishment and is currently undergoing some updates. Surprisingly, this actually worked in our favour, the hotel felt much quieter and less busy than other times we’ve visited Disney, which was a big plus, especially with a baby.
We stayed in a Golden Forest Club room, which comes with some lovely added extras. These include access to the Golden Forest Lounge, where drinks are available from 12pm–11pm, complimentary breakfast, and afternoon snacks between 3:30–5pm.
That said, the rooms themselves are very dated. The brown décor doesn’t do much for the lodge-style theme and could definitely be improved with a more modern, cosy feel, starting with a better choice of curtains! With the right updates, these rooms could be so much more in keeping with the hotel’s woodland vibe.
One thing that really stood out was how baby-friendly the hotel is. There’s a small menu in the room listing items you can request from reception, such as a baby bath, travel cot, potty, and more. The staff were incredibly friendly and constantly checked in to see if we needed anything for the baby, which made the stay feel very relaxed and welcoming.
